Mini implants are narrower than traditional implants, but are otherwise very similar. They are surgically implanted in the jaw and become permanent, but because of their smaller diameter, they often are suitable for patients who do not have enough jaw bone for traditional implants.
The surgical procedure involved in placing mini implants is less invasive than it is for traditional implants. Because of this and the smaller size, the process is usually much quicker, and the overall cost of mini implants is lower. It is often possible to receive temporary dentures to wear with your mini implants immediately while your permanent dentures are modified to attach to the implants.
