D. Gordon Rye, D.D.S. has more than 28 years of experience in providing Exceptional Dentistry to residents of Northern Virginia, including Fairfax County and the Arlington / Washington, D.C. area. As a cosmetic dentist, he ensures that each patient’s smile is as beautiful as it can be for many years to come.
After completing his undergraduate education at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Dr. Rye received his dental training at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Rye completed a two-year general practice residency at the University of Virginia Hospital before opening his practice in Fairfax. Since then Dr. Rye has trained with some of the world’s most prominent cosmetic dental specialists.
Advanced Training
Through the years, Dr. Rye has emphasized the advancement of his dental education, completing thousands of hours of continuing education courses with a focus on cosmetics, TMJ treatment, and complex dental reconstruction.
2 Year General Practice Residency
Immediately after graduating from MCV Dental School Dr Rye began his continuing education journey in one of the most prestigious training programs in the United States, the University of Virginia Hospital General Practice Residency. During his two years at the University of Virginia he received advanced training in multiple fields of Dentistry. Dr Rye worked one-on-one with some of the best educators and dental clinicians in the world. He still considers these two years of his professional training to be the most beneficial of all his continuing education. His educators instilled him with the confidence he needed to provide exceptional dentistry for his patients. Kim
Kim joined out team in September 2010. She and Sidney (see above) have worked together since 2005. Although new to our family, Kim has been in the dental field since March of 1997. She brings with her extensive experience and knowledge of dentistry. Coming from a background in Substance Abuse Counseling, she enjoys the hands on and rewarding experience of connecting with patients and realizes how being a part of changing someone's smile is life changing in itself. Kim is a native Washingtonian, born in Washington DC and raised in Annandale, Va.
She has taken numerous continuing education, including Invisalign, E4D, Cerec Cad/Cam, and Neuromuscular TMJ at LVI. She is certified in CPR/AED and also has her Radiology certification. Kim enjoys the Rye Smiles for Life work environment. The atmosphere is friendly and the energy is positive. Although in the field for 14 years, there is always something new to learn from Dr. Rye.
Annie, Registered Dental Hygienist
Annie has been a licensed registered dental hygienist since 1996, and has been a part of our team since 2000. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene, and received extensive clinical training in Evolutionary Hygiene from LVI in 2004. Annie is actively certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, has clinical expertise in the field of Neuromuscular Dentistry, and completes numerous continuing education requirements each year.
Annie's exceptional clinical skills and absolute devotion to patient health and education have made her instrumental to Dr. Rye and his goal of helping every patient keep their teeth for a lifetime. With her friendly smile and enthusiastic attitude, Annie not only brightens smiles, but also helps them achieve all their oral hygiene goals.
Lou, Registered Dental Hygienist
Lou has been part of our exceptional team since 1999. She received a B.S. degree from Loyola University of Chicago, and earned an advanced practice certificate from the JP Institute in Evolutionary Hygiene at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute. Lou is also certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and has clinical expertise in the field of Neuromuscular Dentistry. Lou keeps her skills and knowledge up to date by completing many continuing education courses each year.

Laurie, Scheduling Coordinator
Laurie has been part of our team since 2002, and assists with scheduling appointments, arranging financing, and filing insurance claims. Laurie enjoys getting to know each of our patients and loves being part of a practice that encourages building patient relationships. Meghan, Schedule Coordinator
Meghan joined us in early 2009 as the Scheduling Coordinator Administrator. She has 13 years of Sales and Marketing experience. Meghan graduated from Marymount University in 1996 with a B.A. in Marketing. Meghan has already started her training with the prestigious LVI Institute and thrives in our exceptional team environment. She is committed to providing the highest level of customer service to our patients and making sure their experience at our practice is both outstanding and comfortable.
Keisha - Scheduling Coordinator
A native of Northern Virginia, Keisha joined us in September 2010. She's the friendly voice you usually hear when you call the office. Keisha has been in the dentistry field since 2006, having worked with a pediatric, general dentist and an orthodontist before joining the Rye Smiles for Life team. She has studied business at Northern Virginia Community College and attended the National Massage Therapy Institute in Falls Church. Keisha's relaxed warmth and concern for each patient help make every visit to our practice exceptional.
Sidney
Sidney has been with us since July 2010. Originally from Brazil, Sidney graduated in 1999 from University of Guarulhos - Sao Paulo as an Oral Surgeon. He has extensive dental assisting experience as he has been in this field for over 10 years. He has taken numerous continuing education courses, including Invisalign, Lumineers, E4D, Cerec Cad/Cam, Neuromuscular TMJ at LVI, and Medical Billing. He is Basic Life Support certified (CPR/AED and First Aid), Radiology and Dental Assistant. Sidney enjoys assisting Dr Rye chair side since they can discuss dentistry at the same level.
Dr Rye and Sidney take great care in developing Personalized Dental Plans to help our patients keep their teeth for a lifetime. Sidney also follows up on all treatment, giving personalized and exceptional care. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, some Italian and Polish. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife Kasia and his son Liam traveling around the world.
